We made Sand Slime!!!  See the recipe below to make your own, and join us at our virtual beach with this beach themed messy play!

This Sand Slime project was a first for us and turned out to be a BLAST!  The kiddo’s favorite part was mixing all the ingredients, and to my surprise, he jumped right in to knead the sand by hand.

M. was able to explore the new textures with the sensation between his fingers. This is just one of the many reasons why messy play is important for children’s development.

We followed the recipe below loosely.  M. added a little more glue than what was called for, so we thought quick and added more of the other ingredients to balance it out.

The play sand that we had available was slightly moist to start with.  But if you run into the same situation, just leave it out in the open air for a few hours to dry out and it will firm right up!

While we waited, we had some fun with Usborne’s ‘First Jigsaw: Under the Sea’ book.
